Dubose1,2, born December 6, 1995 in New York, is an American rapper and singer
from the Bronx.
His stage name is in reference to the character Ace Boogie
from the movie Paid in Full3.
Biography
Artist Julius Dubose was born and raised in the Bronx borough
of New York, in the Highbridge district4,5. During his adolescence, he attended
DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, from which he graduated in 2012. In an
interview with XXL magazine, Dubose said he was "a mundane student, no one
was really paying attention. The silent student from the back of the classroom
»6. He moved to Fort Pierce, Florida, to study air conditioning at the
Performance-Based Preparatory Academy7.
Career
Dubose released his first song entitled Temporary in 2014.
This song took him months to finalize due to his inexperience in music, and
asked a singer to teach him to sing.
In 2015, he returned to New York and co-founded the
Highbridge label with his childhood friend Quincy Acheampong said QP8.
On February 14, 2016, he made his first mixtape entitled
Artist.
In August 2016, he was invited by Drake to perform a first
concert part during a visit to the Bronx of the Summer Sixteen Tour9. During
the month, he signs on Major Atlantic Records10.
On October 28, 2016, he directed TBA, an EP that Rolling
Stone magazine listed among the 40 best rap projects of the year 201611.
He is then named in the XXL Freshman Class 20176.
Private life[]
Dubose is the father of a daughter named Melody Valentine
born February 14, 201712.
