A gardener living in Los Angeles tries to preserve his son from
gang violence and immigration services as he travels the city to create
extraordinary gardens for wealthy owners.
Chris Weitz returns with a new movie, called A Better Life. This
dramatic feature film marks a break with his previous shootings like Twilight
2: temptation nevertheless seems very touching and interesting. The first
images have just been unveiled.

After shooting Twilight 2: temptation or at the crossroads of
worlds: the golden compass, Chris Weitz tackles a dramatic film with much less
budget: A Better Life. The first trailer has just been put online and already
we feel the touching atmosphere of this film.
The pitch? A Mexican gardener who works in Los Angeles tries to get
by and protect his son from gangs as well as immigration officers. Because they
have no papers, and they settled illegally in the United States. But the day
this man is robbed of his truck with his tools is the beginning of the
nightmare: not being declared, he can not go to the police. With the help of
his son, he tries to recover his vehicle, an adventure that will bring them
closer but may also bring them trouble.
The scenario written by Eric Eason (travel until the end of the
night ...) risk in any case to touch the majority of the spectators, by the
strength of the link between this father and his son. And just in this first
trailer we realize that their life is not easy.

For the main role, Chris Weitz chose a Mexican actor, Demian Bichir
(Che ...). The film should have been called The Gardener ("The
Gardener"), but eventually the director preferred to give it a title more
in line with the aspirations of his main hero, A Better Life.

A Better Life tells the story of Carlos, a Mexican gardener who
entered the United States illegally and lives in Los Angeles, and his son Luis
who, although embarrassed by his father's modest condition, is not devoting
himself as he should to his to go out, to his studies, and prefers to this the
company of his girlfriend, niece of a mafia local, and thugs who meet at her
place.
A stolen truck story will bring Carlos and Luis together, however,
changing the course of their lives for the better and for the worse.
Directed by Chris Weitz to whom we owe among other films, American
Pie co-signed with his brother Paul Weitz, and Twilight - Chapter 2:
temptation, A Better Life has as its interpreter
