The university is centrally located , roughly equidistant from three of the 10

graduating from 10 university colleges. Texas A & M, the first state-owned
higher education institution, was opened Oct. 4, 1876 as Texas's agricultural
and mechanical college. The school owes its origin to the 1862 Morrill Act ,

of the institution was changed to Texas A & M University to better reflect

(Agricultural and Mechanical ) University wants to develop the world's largest
collection of genetically engineered mice for genomics research.
The university
associated with Lexicon Genetics (The Woodlands ) at the Texas Institute for
Genomic Medicine '(TIGM) aims to create a library of more than 350,000'
knockout 'mouse embryonic stem cells called OmniBank II. The TIGM was founded
in 2005 with $ 50 million in funding from the Texas Enterprise Fund , a $
295-million state fund created by Governor Rick Perry. 70% of grant awarded to
Lexicon Private Partner Genetics to create 2 copies of its OmniBank cell line
bank that it will make available to the University. The University will use the
remaining 30% for the construction of the TIGM premises. Embryonic stem cells are developed through
two technologies the ' gene trapping ', high-throughput random mutagenesis and'
gene targetting 'to suppress the expression of a gene by homologous
recombination. 'Knockout' mice created by microinjection of embryonic stem
cells from the OmniBank libraries (129 / SvEvBrd lines ) and OmniBank II (C57BL
/ 6 lines) are available to academic researchers at a price of $ 17,500 per
line. The TIGM can also provide academic researchers with access to more than
1,000 established 'knockout' mouse lines produced by Lexicon Genetics for $
30,000 per line. The 122 lineages for which the National Institutes of Health
(NIH) obtained Lexicon rights Genetics , are available for $ 5,000.
When designing
the new Life Sciences Life Building at Texas A & M University, the Perkins
+ Will architectural firm needed a way to combine the need for high-quality
acoustics with innovative aesthetics. The building, which was designed to
receive Silver LEED certification, uses two different CertainTeed ceiling
products in its design. In the auditorium at 285 building spaces, the design required the use
of Ecophon ® ceiling panels Master
MC Solo S from CertainTeed . Made from
high density fiberglass, the panels provide superior noise absorption with a
Noise Reduction Coefficient of 95. A total of 1 920 square feet of Ecophon Master Solo S
panels were installed in the auditorium to create a suspended ceiling offering
both high acoustic performance and unique aesthetic appeal. In addition to the
panels used in the auditorium, the teams installed 26 000 square feet of ceiling panels of the
series Symphony MD f CertainTeed performance
in rooms and corridors throughout the building.

or other students on projects. The College of Engineering wanted a
non-proprietary system that would allow anyone to use the software of their

experts to campus.
