This Colorado resort offers one of the longest ski seasons in North America as well as hiking trails and small gourmet festivals.
Known locally as The Legend, the Arapahoe Basin ski area has been attracting skiers for over 65 years. Every year, from October to June, skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes of a ski area of nearly 400 hectares with an altitude difference of nearly 4,000 meters. Get ready to crisscross over 109 perfectly manicured trails, not to mention the steep slopes, undergrowth and valleys of powder snow. While skiing in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, at the Continental Divide, admire the beautiful natural surroundings.
You can rent the equipment. Ski and snowboard lessons, private or group, are offered to amateurs of all levels by experienced instructors. Gain confidence by exercising in well-defined learning areas and on beginner slopes. More advanced athletes can take the Lenawee Mountain lift, which leads to challenging groomed and hilly trails on the Lenawee and Norway faces, or the challenging, very difficult or extreme slopes of the Montezuma Bowl.
The Arapahoe Basin ski area also has two acrobatic descent parks. Perfect your acrobatics on the crates, jumps and rails of the park, or pass your turn and watch the skiers and seasoned skateboarders show their impressive skills!
In summer, go on foot or by mountain bike the beautiful trails of the surrounding mountains. Walk through the alpine forest and along the waterfalls to the summit ridges. Enjoy one of the mountain summer events, including a stop at the USA Pro Challenge cycling race.
Many cafes, rotisseries and restaurants offer a relaxing environment on the mountainside. Make your reservations for the Moonlight Dinner Series, a special dining experience that takes place on Saturdays, during the full moon phase, from December to April. Many activities, such as barbecues, beer tastings, and clam and lobster treats, are held throughout the year and are often accompanied by a concert.
The resort is just over an hour drive from Denver and about two hours from Colorado Springs. Parking near the chairlifts of the resort is free. As the resort does not have an accommodation facility, many visitors stay at nearby Keystone hotels and inns. From mid-November to the last weekend of May (Memorial Day), a shuttle bus connects Keystone and Arapahoe Basin.
Visit the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area website for information on passes, hours of operation, ski lessons, equipment rental, discounted tickets and vacation packages.

Discover the perfect place to ski in the evening and find sensational descents for all levels at this popular skier center.
The Keystone Ski Center is known as one of the best ski destinations in the area. There are many slopes for novice and intermediate skiers, as well as a wide choice of more challenging slopes. Come in the spring to ski on the illuminated trails in the evening.
The slopes of the center cover three peaks: Dercum Mountain, North Peak and Outback Ridge at Wapiti Peak. The different peaks are connected by a network of chairlifts and gondolas. Head to Dercum Mountain to try out less steep ski trails that are right for the whole family. Climb to the summit in the fast chairlifts, in the River Run gondola or in a heated groomer.
Ski or drive beyond Dercum Mountain to North Peak, where a mix of bumpy skiing and smooth runs awaits you. You can also take the Outpost chairlift. Outback tracks are not clear, but trees are pruned to allow less advanced skiers to get used to the wooded areas. Some sections are reserved for experienced skiers.
The A51 Keystone Snow Park is one of the best in the country. It has more than 100 modules spread over more than 24 hectares. Train on the springboards, bars, obstacles and tubes of the park.

In the evening, come back skiing on the slopes. Keystone is the only center in Summit County to allow skiing in the evening. It is the center with the longest ski days and the largest number of illuminated trails in Colorado. The schedule varies from year to year, but many chairlifts remain open until mid-day Wednesday through Saturday, throughout the ski season. Watch the sun go down
